Red Wing, MN (KROC AM News)  - A Rochester woman who was the driver of a car involved in a deadly traffic wreck last year has been fined $100.

The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Department says 35-year-old Jessica Alvarez Braun was driving on County Road 7 when she failed to stop and crashed into the other vehicle, which was on County Road 9. Two passengers in Braun’s car were killed. They were identified as 50-year-old Blanka Burt of Utica and 51-year-old Rosa Alvarez of Mexico.The wreck happened around 8 p.m. August 21 near the town of Goodhue.

Braun was charged with failure to yield right of way and failing to stop at a stop sign. As part of a plea agreement, she entered a guilty plea in May to the first count and the second charge was dismissed.

During Thursday’s sentencing hearing, Braun was fined $100 and assessed $85 in fees and charges.
