We've teamed up with Sylvan Learning to recognize and reward great teachers! And our final awards go to  Angie Kilker and Danielle Knoll, first grade teachers from Sunset Terrace!

Krisi Penza nominated this month's teachers.

You cannot nominate one of these amazing teachers without the other.

Angie Kilker and Danielle Knoll team teach their first grade classes and do a wonderful job engaging the students, communicating with the parents, and all with a smile on their faces.

They demonstrate how to be good citizens to their students through service projects like making blankets for the Ronald McDonald House, and visiting with the elderly in senior living centers.

They go above and beyond outside the classroom. Ms. Kilker and Ms. Knoll can always be found helping at the school fundraisers and after school activities.

And for 8 weeks every Spring they take on leading over 100 Sunset Terrace students in a running club. They began this program 3 years ago and it is a huge success. Students arrive to school 50 minutes early to be a part of this awesome program that is not only fun, but great for their health. I cannot think of any two people more deserving of recognition on Teacher Tuesday!

I visited Sunset Terrace in February to learn more about the blanket project mentioned in the nomination.
