Undated (KROC AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation officially kicked off the 2015 road construction season this week by releasing a list of 290 projects that are scheduled to take place this year.

The cost of all the projects is around $1 billion. Nearly a fifth of that money will be spent on projects in southeast Minnesota.

A significant project near the Rochester airport is scheduled to begin this year. A new overpass will be built on Highway 63 to replace the current County Road 16 bridge.  The new one will be built just to the south of the existing bridge so traffic won’t be affected.  The $5 ½ million project is expected to be completed next year.  And MNDOT will also resurface Highway 63 between 28th St South and Highway 30 during May and June, which will have an impact on motorists due to lane closures.

Another local project is a planned roundabout at the intersection of Highways 14 and 42 in Eyota, which has been the scene of deadly and serious traffic wrecks in recent years. Work on the $2.7 million project is scheduled to begin in May. MNDOT will also resurface Highway 42 all the way from Eyota to Plainview. That $5.8 million project is scheduled to be completed by September.

Here's a list of all the projects( pages 5 & 6 for SE Minnesota projects).
