This is coming from a "newbie" - if you want to call me that. Take my words with a grain of salt.

My husband and I moved to Rochester in July of 2016. I moved for the job, and I was lucky enough that he was game to come with me. While we both have found fantastic career success in Rochester (seriously, we're both doing better now!), there are definitely some things that we wish we could see more of.

I've been lucky enough to get to know you guys, and hear your thoughts too. So, without further-a-due, here are three ways we'd like to see Rochester change in 2018.

    Solve the affordable housing crisis.

Let's be honest about something for a moment - it's really hard to find affordable housing in Rochester. I myself shell out almost $1,100 a month for a roof over our head.

In fact, sometimes it can be so hard to find affordable housing that some literally go homeless. There is growing concern that our homeless numbers will increase as well.

My thought on how to "solve it": let's start building two bedroom homes again instead of McMansions!

    More music venues.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again - we need more music venue options in Rochester. Let's nurture a growing population by fulfilling a need to be entertained!

    Let's be better drivers.

I realize that everyone has their own definition of what a "good" driver is, but personally, I feel like we all could use a brush up on the skills!

I've been in two accidents already within my first year in Rochester. Admittedly, one was my fault and the other wasn't. I'm nervous to drive in some areas now, because I'm trying to anticipate the behavior of other drivers.

Maybe we can agree to at least be more considerate of others?
