Scott County authorities say a 42 year old Faribault woman driving an SUV in Scott County Sunday failed to obey a stop sign, hit a car and inflicted injuries to a 14-year-old boy that according to the Star Tribune, were fatal.

The collision according to a press release occurred about 9:15 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of 185th St E. and Natchez Avenue in Credit River Township.

The Star Tribune has reported that a family member posted to social media that the teen in the crash had died. A total of four people were injured in the crash that involved three vehicles in all.

According to witnesses in the press release, a black Jeep Cherokee driven by a 42-year-old Faribault woman was northbound on Natchez Ave, approaching the intersection of 185th St E. The witnesses stated that the vehicle did not stop at the stop sign, and continued into the intersection where it hit a Black Ford Taurus traveling eastbound on 185th St E.

The Ford Taurus was being driven by a 48-year-old Prior Lake man. The teen was also in the Ford Taurus sitting in the front seat. The press release went on to state that upon impact, a blue Nissan Pathfinder, being driven by a 46-year-old Lakeville woman, following the Ford swerved to the right and made contact with the Jeep.

Also injured in the crash was the driver of the Ford, the driver of the Jeep, and the driver of the Nissan. All 4 injured parties were all transported by Allina Ambulance to the Hennepin County Medical Center for various injuries sustained in the crash.

At this time, alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this crash.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prior Lake Fire Department, Lakeville Police Department, Allina Ambulance and the Minnesota State Patrol. Names will not be released at this time. The State Patrol and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office are investigating.

According to a Facebook post, the intersection was closed for a period of time for the investigation.

Authorities have not released any identities, and any conditions of those who survived also have not been disclosed by law enforcement.
