This year, 176 4th grade students from eleven schools in Rochester participated in making entries for the “Help Make Rochester A Litter Bit Better” poster contest.  This year’s Grand Prize winner is Arikka Cowl, a student in Ms. Brown’s class at Gibbs Elementary school.  For winning, Arrika will receive a Litter Bit Better t-shirt, a large poster, a $100 gift card for her classroom, an invite to the Mayor’s Earth Month proclamation and a pizza lunch with Mayor Ardell Brede with the class.

Also, Arrika’s artwork will become the centerpiece of pledge cards that encourage students to pledge not to litter.  Pledge cards will be given to all Rochester 4th graders in April of 2015, just before the start of next year’s “A Litter Bit Better” week.

Ten School Winners were also selected as having the best entries from their schools.  All winners will be invited to participate in the June 2015 Rochesterfest parade, distributing litter bags.  To see the winning entries and find out more about the “A Litter Bit Better” campaign, visit this website:  www.rneighbors.org/litterbitbetter .
