5 Alternative Facts About Minnesota
The news has been filled with "alternative facts" lately, and regardless of your stance on them, we thought now would be a great time to dispel any alternative facts that might be influencing opinions of the North Star State!
Fact: There are far more than the token 10,000 lakes, in fact, there are actually 11,842 lakes that are at least 10 acres in size, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
Fact: Laura Ingalls Wilder, David Ellefson, Bob Dylan, Zach Parise, the Gear Daddies, Mary Tyler Moore (honorary), Soul Asylum, Prince, the entire Power 96/KDHL crew and many many more awesome people all have roots in Minnesota!
Fact: There is a ton of stuff to do in the winter including snowshoeing, skiing, sledding, broom-ball, hockey, ice skating, hiking, ice fishing, snowmobiling, building snowmen, and enjoying outdoor festivals.
Fact: Minnesota does boast some excellent farmland, but we also have miles of shoreline in thanks to the 11,842 lakes, the most theater seats per capita outside of New York, and are home to the Mall of America, Target, General Mills, Buffalo Wild Wings, Aveda, Sleep Number, 3M, Maurices, Green Giant and the Mayo Clinic!
Fact: The Mall of America is actually the size of 78 football fields. It is home to an aquarium, an amusement park, and of course, shopping.
