When music festivals are just getting started you generally try to snag one big act then find less popular bands or groups to fill-in around the big name act. Well, it doesn't get much bigger than Aerosmith, and they are going to be rockin' in Shakopee this summer at the inaugural Twin Cities Summer Jam Festival. I'm debating taking a quick drive up 13 and checking out the festival just based on Aerosmith!

When the music festival was announced in August of 2018, country artist Tim McGraw was promoted as a headliner to the rock and country weekend. Yesterday the music festival announced the rest of the upcoming summer line-up which included Aerosmith. Joining Aerosmith on the rock side will be 80's rock band REO Speedwagon.

The last time that Aerosmith performed in the Twin Cities was in 2012. Since then lead singer Steven Tyler has pursued a solo career in country music, and Joe Perry has since released his fourth solo album just last year. In a scary moment for Perry, he collapsed after performing with Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden last November and then canceled his solo tour.

Aerosmith currently is scheduled to present a residency in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand, beginning in April.

More artists are scheduled to be announced closer to the show.
