Rochester, MN  (KROC-AM News) - Nearly 40 tons of food items were donated to the Channel One Food Bank in Rochester through the 23rd annual Stamp Out Hunger campaign by U.S. Postal Service letter carriers.

Channel One Executive Director Jennifer Woodford says the total was 76,469 pounds. She says the collection by the letter carriers on Saturday was about 1500 more pounds than last year. Woodford says the effort was also helped by a significant donation from Seneca Foods - nearly 35,000 pounds.

Channel One provides food to thousands of residents in 14 counties in southeast Minnesota and La Crosse County in Wisconsin.
