Annie Lennox Chimes in on Twerking

Twerking was a major fad this year, and its hopefully going to become passe soon enough.  Are ya listenin', Miley?

Annie Lennox has had plenty to say about the state of feminism and sexuality in the music industry.  And in a recent interview, she even referred to Beyonce as, quote, "feminism lite".

Here are her latest thoughts on the subject . . . quote, "Twerking is not feminism.  It's not liberating, it's not empowering.  It's a sexual thing that you're doing on a stage;  it doesn't empower you.  That's my feeling about it."

While Annie has noted that she does NOT think there's anything wrong with a woman expressing her sexuality, she previously said, quote, "It seems obvious that record companies are peddling highly styled pornography with musical accompaniment . . .

"It's depressing to see how these performers are so eager to push this new level of LOW . . . as if it's all justified by how many millions of dollars and YouTube hits you get from behaving like pimp and prostitute at the same time.

"It's a glorified and monetized form of self harm."
