Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  The fundraising total from this year’s Winterfest in Rochester was over $442,000.

A news conference was held this morning at the Rochester Public Library to discuss the success of the 2016 Winterfest and plans for next winter’s festivities. The amount of money raised for the participating non-profit organizations was over $90,000 above the 2015 total, while the number of people who came to the over two-dozen Winterfest events grew from around 6800 last year to almost 9500 this year. 530 volunteers organized and staged the Winterfest events, which was up nearly 90 from the previous year.

Looking ahead to next year, Winterfest will take place from January 26th through February 12th. A design created by Allison Anneke was chosen for the 2017 Winterfest button. It features an ice skating Canada goose.
