April 2018’s Incredibly Crazy Rochester Weather

Now that April is in our rearview mirror and May-- along with some warmer, spring-like weather-- is finally here, we can see just how nuts our weather really was last month.

We'd already heard last Friday-- even with four more days to go-- that April of 2018 set a record for being the coldest ever in Rochester. And, while we didn't get dumped on with the huge snowfalls that hit areas of the Twin Cities two weeks ago, we also got more than our fair share of snow during last month. (I mean, April's supposed to bring showers for those May flowers, right?!?)

But seeing how we warmed up pretty nicely on Monday, it also helped April set a few more weather milestones. According to KTTC Chief Meteorologist Matt Benz, our high Monday in Rochester was 80 degrees (though I unofficially hit 81 at our place). That was the first time since September 24th of last year that we hit 80. (Though on 9/24, we actually hit a toasty 89!)

But April also marked the first time in 2018 that Rochester hit 50, 60, 70 and 80 degrees. And, given the cold and snowy late-April snowstorm we all suffered through just a few weeks ago, April marked quite the turnaround in temps, too.

On April 15th, our high was only 25. A week later, on the April 22nd, we hit 60. And, just two weeks later, we topped 80. That's some crazy weather, isn't it?!? Go home, April-- you're drunk!
