Marion, MN (KROC-AM News)  -  An armed robbery suspect was captured Friday afternoon following an hour-long manhunt southeast of Rochester.

A statement issued by the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says deputies rushed to Jeff’s Little Store in Marion after receiving a report that the convenience store had been robbed at gunpoint around 3:20 p.m. The suspect, a black man wearing a black baseball hat and a black jacket, fled in a grey Chevy van, which was spotted by law enforcement shortly after the robbery was reported.

A spokesman, says a preliminary report indicated the robbery suspect crashed the van near the intersection of Countrywood Drive and 45th Avenue Southeast in Marion Township and fled on foot. The Sheriff’s Department, with help from Rochester Police and the Minnesota State Patrol, set up a perimeter and apprehended the man shortly before 4:20 p.m. in the 4300 block of Countrywood Drive.

The name of the suspect has not been released and the case remains under investigation.
