It's the Banff Mountain Film Festival, and it's coming to Rochester Friday night, at 7pm at Kellogg Middle School. So, just what is it about? Well, the press release describes it like this:

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, a program of Banff Centre, is the largest, and one of the most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world. Hot on the heels of the festival held every fall in Banff, Canada, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour hits the road.

Traveling to exotic landscapes and remote cultures, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2017/2018 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world.

So, yeah, if you like to do ANYTHING outdoors-- like mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, rollerblading, snow shoeing or skiing-- it sounds like you'll see it, along with some spectacular photography, in this film festival.

I love to watch these kinds of movies; it makes me almost feel like I've done those cool activities. It's like watching House Hunters Renovation-- I feel like I've done all that home improvement-type work, even though I've never left the couch!
