I know, I know...on one of the hottest and most uncomfortable days of the summer, it's hard to think about sending kids back to school. I get it! However, the school supplies are in the stores and I just can't help myself. Even though it's been 30 years since *I* went back to school, I still love buying school supplies.

(While I'm at it, I also like to buy a new pair of jeans and some tennis shoes just to finish off the experience.)
My kids have not yet expressed an interest in back to school shopping, but I just spent what is nearly the best 50 cents I've spent all summer, and picked up a new box of crayons. Lucky for me, coloring books for adults are everywhere.

While I was at it, I picked up a few other boxes and some glue sticks (also only 50 cents each!) for the Running Start for School program that the United Way organizes every year.   You can almost taste the excitement that a new backpack full of school supplies can generate and helping to make it happen is easy!  Check out the list of 10 specific school supplies and get shopping.  Bring your donation to one of the more than 60 drop-off sites around town.  (See the list here.)  And if you'd like to help out with the organization or distribution of the supplies, sign up here or call 529-4831.

Now, get shopping!  The collection of school supplies ends on July 29th.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to get back to my coloring book.  Have a colorful day!
