If you're heading up to the Twin Cities, watch out this weekend as there could be some big traffic back-ups along part of Highway-52.

Specifically, traffic could back up big time along Highway-52 in Zumbrota at the Highway-58 bridge. MnDOT crews have been working to put in a new bridge there, as well adding two new roundabouts and reconstructing the on and off ramps at that interchange.

Well, that project is almost done, and all that's left now is to take down the old bridge over Highway-52. Which is what MnDOT is planning to do this weekend.

And which could also lead to some big-time traffic back-ups in both directions of Highway-52. Here's why: It's because you'll have to exit the highway to go around the bridge. MnDOT says both north and southbound traffic will be detoured onto the new off and on-ramps, through the new roundabouts, and then back onto Highway-52.

Which could be a big headache. MnDOT itself says "Traffic is expected to slow through this point and could back up during busy travel times during the weekend. Motorists should plan for additional travel time or take an alternate route to avoid this section."

So, if you're heading up to US Bank Stadium to watch my Green Bay Packers take on the Vikings Sunday, be sure to give yourself plenty of extra time. (And maybe take an alternate route home too!)
