Emmons, MN (KROC AM News) - There was an apparent deadly fire Wednesday in rural Freeborn County.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. at a residence near the town of Emmons. The call indicated a person may have been in the home.

Deputies arrived to find thick smoke coming from all parts of the home and large flames shooting out the rear. After the fire was out, a deceased person was located in the home.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death and a positive ID. The State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in the investigation.

The home is located north of Bear Lake.
