Hastings, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Twin Cities teacher is facing two felony charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a teenage boy and sending sexually explicit photos of himself to another teenage student.

Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom says 29-year-old Eric Akervik was arraigned Wednesday on one count each of third degree criminal sexual conduct and electronic solicitation of a child. A news release says the alleged victims were 15 and 16-year-old students at Burnsville High School, where Akervik was employed as a music teacher.

The investigation that led to the charges was opened on Monday when a 15-year-old boy reported to school officials that Akervik had sent him nude photos via Snapchat and had sent him messages that indicated he had “taken the virginity” of another teenager. The charges allege the sexual contact with that student occurred last December at the teacher’s apartment in Burnsville.

Conditional bail for Akervik was set at $100,000.
