Randolph, MN (KROC AM News) - A Cannon Falls man and his one-year-old daughter were killed Monday when the vehicle they were in was struck by a semi-truck.

The wreck happened around 11:30 a.m. on Highway 56 several miles northwest of Cannon Falls near the town of Randolph.

The State Patrol says 31-year-old Jason Calderara passed a car and then suddenly moved back into his lane, nearly colliding with an oncoming vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle swerved to the shoulder and hit the brakes.The semi-truck was right behind that vehicle. Its driver also hit the brakes and the truck jackknifed and then struck Calderara’s SUV on the front driver’s side.  

Calderara’s wife Elizabeth and 9-year-old son Nicholas suffered serious injuries. The truckdriver  - 71-year-old James Sathre of Faribault - was treated for injuries described as non-life threatening.
