Every now and again there's a show that catches on. I didn't find Firefly until after it had been cancelled. Castle is one of those shows that my wife started watching, and then I started watching it with her. She was a big fan of Hart to Hart, with Stephanie Powers and Robert Wagner, and Scarecrow and Mrs. King back in the day.

It looks like Castle may be "jumping the shark" as it winds down it's final season. The show is coming back for a Ninth Season that may be shortened to thirteen episodes. Without co-star Stana Katic.

The next season is going to look very different. The premise of the show is that mystery writer Rick Castle depended on Katic's NY police detective Kate Beckett as a muse. He launched a new mystery series inspired by her. She was also his in with the NYPD. I think "Caskett" as they're called just got married a season or two back. And now he's become a private investigator, too.

If Beckett is gone for good, it's possible she'll be killed off. That's one way to get rid of the character. Either way, I'm sure they'll find some way to make the final thirteen episodes exciting.
