Rochester,MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who created a scene at the public library last month has been arraigned on two assault charges.

During his first court appearance, bail for 26 year old Robert Ritchie was set at $10,000 and he was ordered back for an evidentiary hearing next month.

The incident happened during the evening of  July 21st when a patron at the library told an employee that Ritchie was watching pornography on a computer and fondling himself. When asked to leave, Ritchie became upset and threw a computer keyboard at the employee and ran out of the building.

Police were called while an employee followed Ritchie to the library parking ramp. When the employee tried to prevent Ritchie from driving out of the ramp, he was struck by his vehicle and knocked to the ground. The employee was also punched in the head when he tried grabbing Ritchie’s car keys. Officers arrived and took Ritchie to St. Mary’s for a mental evaluation.
