Dave’s Top 5: Little Bad Habits We All Have
Have you given up completely on any New Year's Resolutions yet or are you still working on one or two?
I think it's important to set a good example, especially for my three kids. It's better to set an example than trying to lecture and dictate good habits. They pick up more on actions than words. Kids watch every thing we do and pick up more on that than anything else. I've noticed than I'm passing on some of my bad habits.
One of my resolutions this year was to kick some smaller bad habits that I might be passing on without noticing.
Here are my Top 5. What are yours?

Leftovers in the Fridge
I've never been a big fan of leftovers. I like variety, so I'm not one to keep going back for seconds days later. Which means by midweek it's time to clear out the refrigerator. Every now and again we'll go out to eat. Leftovers don't look all that great a couple of days later. So, less leftovers and more keeping the fridge tidier.

Emptying the Trash
Friday is our trash pickup day. I think I spend seven days reminding all three of my kids that the trash needs to be gathered up by Thursday night to set out Friday morning.

Brushing Before Bed
I have a routine that I am trying to pass along: changing clothes every day and putting them in the dirty clothes hamper, showering regularly and brushing my teeth in the morning and before bed. I've heard that it's a good idea to brush three times a day. I'm trying to keep the habit of at least twice a day. I know that I'm a parent, because I ask the question regularly, "Did you brush your teeth?" Sometimes I forget and ask friends and co-workers...

Keyboarding
Probably one of the grossest things is a computer keyboard. It's a good habit for me to have my kids see that I clean up after myself. And, not eat snacks while I'm on the computer. Anymore.

Making Your Bed
There are some days that all I can do is shut and maybe lock the bedroom door. This is one of my bad habits I don't want to pass on to my kids. It only takes a minute or two in the morning to make the bed. At least every couple of weeks, it's a good idea to wash your sheets. My wife is a neatness nut so we wash our sheets once a week.
