Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A decorated military veteran from southern Minnesota has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for his second child pornography conviction.

A statement issued Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney for Minnesota says 50-year-old Ronald Shankey of Morristown pleaded guilty to a possession of child pornography charge last June. His latest offense occurred just two months after his release from federal prison for a child pornography conviction in Wisconsin in 2007 that resulted in a nine-year sentence.

Officials say Shankey served 20 years in the U.S. Army and was once honored as a “Soldier of the Year.”
