People from Iowa and Illinois had the best view of the greenish object that streaked through the sky last night. But Minnesotans with an eye to the sky were also able to see what the American Meteor Society (AMS) calls a fireball shoot across the sky around 8:41 pm last night.

The fireball not only had all of social media buzzing about it, but trained professionals were also sending in reports (270+) about what they observed. The fireball event took place above Iowa and Michigan on July 8th, 2018 around 8:40 pm CDT. The fireball was seen primarily from Iowa and Illinois but was also seen from Minnesota, Indiana, Kansas, Nebraska, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin.

A person in Ohio even got video of the fireball from a security camera.

While it wasn't some little green men in a spaceship looking for directions, it was still pretty cool to see. Did you happen to see the fireball? We'd love to see the pictures, use the FREE Power 96 App to send them our way!
