Dogs Do Get Jealous

Sometimes my dog Brock gets pretty jealous.  If he sees me hugging my wife or son, he tries to butt in and get some attention too.   But if he sees me petting another dog, then he really gets upset.   Apparently that’s not unusual.

According to researchers at the University of California-San Diego, it’s common for dogs to get jealous.  They watched 36 dog owners interact with an animated dog and showed jealousy by either pushing at their owner or at the other dog.  They were clearly trying to disrupt the connection between their owners and a supposed rival.
