Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  At last check, police were looking for the driver of a car that led officers on a  high speed chase that began south of Rochester just before midnight Thursday.

The chase initially involved an Olmsted County deputy who pulled a car over for speeding on northbound Highway 63 near the city airport. The deputy discovered the driver was wanted on a parole violation warrant stemming from an armed robbery conviction in Wisconsin. When the deputy tried to take the man into custody, he drove off at speeds of 80-100 miles per hour.

As the car headed down Broadway toward the downtown, Rochester police officers placed stopsticks on the road but the driver kept going and the deputy broke off the pursuit near the AMPI dairy.

A short while later, the car was found crashed and abandoned at the intersection of Civic Center Drive and 6th Avenue.

The driver  has been identified as 31-year-old Jasment Harper-Taylor.
