Rushford, MN (KROC-AM News) - Fillmore County has been added to the list of Minnesota counties with confirmed infestations of the Emerald Ash Borer.

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture says the damaging green beetle was recently found in an ash tree on a boulevard in Rushford during a routine visual survey.

The department says Fillmore County will likely be placed under an emergency quarantine in the next week and eventually join Olmsted, Winona, Houston and four Twin Cities counties in a federal and state quarantine aimed at slowing the spread of EAB.

The state’s first infestation of the invasive species was discovered in Houston County in 2009, while the first case in Olmsted County was found last summer.
