Remember when we were all screaming for joy over Hilary Duff and Ed Sheeran collaborating in the studio? It seems like we’ll be getting our hands on that collab sooner than we thought! Hilary’s first single off of her upcoming album was co-written by the British star.

Digital Spy sat down to talk with the ‘X’ singer about his latest projects, including the time he spent writing with Hilary.

“It’s a good song,” Ed said of the tune. “Poor Hilary, though, because the only time I was free I did ‘The Voice,’ then had a meeting, then I had another TV show until 1 o’clock in the morning — and I know she has a kid — but I had to drag her down to the studio at that time to get the song done. She came and smashed it out in about two hours.”

Two hours is pretty impressive. The creative juices must have really been flowing in the studio, making us even more excited to hear it.

As for Hilary fans that might be expecting something along the lines of her old material, Ed says it won’t be so — the singer is more mature and so is her music.

“Obviously she comes from 'Lizzie McGuire' and that pop world, but she’s more grown up now, so it’s more of an adult alternative acoustic sound,” he shared. Interesting!

PopCrushers, are you dying to hear Hilary and Ed’s new song?
