Woodbury, MN (KROC AM News) - The end may be near for Globe University and the Minnesota School of Business.

The Woodbury-based higher education institution has announced it is in the process of shutting down its campuses.

Officials have informed students that each Minnesota School of Business campus will stay open through at least the end of January “ to help students get transcripts, answer questions and facilitate meetings with institutions that that are willing to accept credits from Globe/MSB.”

As of last year, the schools operated 19 campuses in Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota, including one in northwest Rochester. The Wisconsin and South Dakota sites will close at the end of the year.

The current plan is to continue offering some classes online for students who can complete their degree next year. Globe says nursing students have the option of continuing their program through an agreement with Concordia University of St Paul. Concordia will take over the program on the first of the year.

This news comes after the recent announcement from the Department of Education that it was dropping the schools from its federal student aid loan programs. Its decision followed a court ruling in favor of a lawsuit filed by the Minnesota Attorney General, claiming the schools had provided misleading information to some students, including those enrolled in a criminal justice program.
