Additional Information

The National Institute of Mental Health reports 1 in 4 adults and 1 in 10 children suffer from a diagnosable mental health disorder in a given year. Furthermore, people living with serious mental illness die, on average, 25 years earlier than other American adults, largely due to treatable medical conditions.

Despite these staggering numbers, mental health disorders continue to be misrepresented and misunderstood. NAMI Southeast Minnesota aims to change those perceptions at its 21st Annual Walk, NAMIWalks: Changing Minds One Step at a Time. The goal is to raise awareness and funds to continue offering NAMI programs for individuals living with mental illness, their families and the community.

Everyone is invited and there is no cost to attend. The Walk has a festive atmosphere, celebrating hope and recovery, so bring walking shoes and come for a good time!
