Additional Information

Each April, Lewiston, MN hosts the Fools Five Road Race, an event with a participant count that doubles the population of the small rural town.  Just 35 minutes away from Rochester, the certified 8K or 1-mile race/walk raises funds for cancer research.  The greater community has wrapped its arms around the race and the associated silent and live auctions.  Through this vast support, Fools Five has donated more than 1.8 million dollars for cancer research to Gundersen Medical Foundation and the Eagles Cancer Telethon, which in turn supports research at Mayo Clinic, The Hormel Institute for Cancer Research, and Masonic Cancer Center at the University of Minnesota.

The race will be held on Sunday, April 12, at 1 PM.  Preregistration is currently open for the race and can be processed at www.foolsfive.org.  Registration and packet pick-up will occur Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 4 PM, and Sunday morning 9 AM to noon.  The Fools Five Auction will begin at 5 on Friday, April 10, at the Lewiston Community Center.  Further information and registration is available at www.foolsfive.org, Facebook, Twitter, or by calling

As a fundraising event, the milestone moments are often in association with the cause--cancer.  There is a moment each race day designed for quiet reflection.  At the direction of the announcer, just prior to the race, over 3,000 people take a knee and honor those who remain upright -- the cancer survivors.  In the coolness of spring, this is a heart-warming moment cherished by all who attend, and it is in that spirit that Lewiston welcomes you to participate in the 37th Annual Fools Five Road Race!
