Organizers of the Olmsted County Free Fair say the 2014 fair, which wrapped Sunday, went “really well.”

Fair Board President Terry Leary says overall attendance was up from last year at an estimated 140,000. She says the grandstand shows were also well attended, particularly Sunday night’s demolition derby. Leary did note the ticket sales for the live music performances were a little less than expected, but she also says the promoters indicated they are planning to return next summer with new shows.

The carnival receipts are still being totaled, but the operator is indicating it appears they will be higher than a year ago, while the food vendors are reporting their sales were either even with or higher than last year.
