Rochesterfest kicked off 2015 with an announcement today naming Townsquare Media's own Brent Ackerman as the event's chairperson for 2015. He was officially announced as the chair at a ceremony at the Government Center this morning. For those who might not know, Ackerman serves as Operations Manager for all the Townsquare Media stations in Rochester, including this one!

It's a big year for Rochesterfest, which is now in its 33rd year, with the event transitioning to Soldier's Memorial Field Park from its previous location in front of the Mayo Civic Center. And Ackerman thinks the move is going to be a great change for the event.

"I can't think of a better location to hold our annual city celebration than this wonderful place... Not only for this year, but for years to come," Ackerman said, referring to Rochesterfest's new home.

Ackerman also revealed the event's theme for 2015 - "Rochesterfest: A Walk in the Park." He said he believes that the theme really conveys the benefits of the event's new location, which includes the park setting, green grass and open spaces that he believes will give this year's Rochesterfest a more family-friendly feeling.

Ackerman shared more thoughts on the move, as well as some interesting facts about the event's new location, as he officially accepted his role this morning. Those can all be found in this video of this morning's ceremony.

This year's Rochesterfest will run June 20-28, 2015. It will be an event not to be missed!
