Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The State Patrol says the weather was not a factor in a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Thanksgiving Day near Rochester.

The victim was driving a car that was seen swerving and crossing the centerline several times while heading north on Highway 52 north of Chatfield before it collided head-on with an SUV just before 10 a.m.

The State Patrol report says the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary information indicates the driver was a 24 year old man from Byron.

The occupants of the SUV were three members of a family from the Twin Cities, including an infant boy. The baby and the 33-year-old man driving the SUV were not hurt, while a 32-year-old female passenger was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The State Patrol says a 29-year-old St. Louis Park man also suffered non-life threatening injuries when he swerved to avoid the crash and his car went into the ditch and rolled.
