Fire Victims Killed by Smoke Inhalation
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Fire Department says preliminary autopsy results indicate the mother and son who perished in a fire last week in southeast Rochester died from smoke inhalation.
51-year-old Barbara Thoresen was pronounced dead at the scene, while 26-year-old Matthew Thoresen later died at St. Mary’s Hospital. They were pulled from their burning home in a neighborhood near Macken Funeral Home last Friday evening.
The investigation into the cause of the deadly blaze is ongoing, but a spokesman says it does not appear it was suspicious.
