Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Fair officially opens Monday and organizers anticipate good turnout this year.

The fair will run through Sunday, July 31st at the Olmsted County fairgrounds in southeast Rochester. It will include carnival rides, grandstand and other shows, food and other vendors and various agricultural displays. There is no admission fee.

The fair has a long history in Rochester. The first one was held in 1860 and it ran two days - in early October. The initial site was later sold and the organization that oversaw its operations was disbanded. It reformed in 1912 and the fair was held at its current site, which was later donated to Olmsted County by Dr. Christopher Graham..
