George Michael, 53 (1963 – 2016)

2016 claims yet another victim.

BBC is reporting that George Michael has passed away at 53. The singer who gained fame in the '80's as part of the duo Wham! and later as a solo artist, "passed away peacefully at his home".

No cause of death has been given yet, although authorities say there have been "no suspicious circumstances".

Born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou, Michael first found fame with schoolfriend Andrew Ridgeley, when the two formed Wham! Michael then went solo, eclipsed his previous success. Over four decades he sold over 100 million albums.

He was working on a new album earlier this month.

Michael was treated for pneumonia in 2011.
