The Gophers are going bowling, officially. After finishing the regular season with an 8-4 record (5-4 in the Big Ten) the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers will take on the Washington State University Cougars (8-4, 7-2 in Pac-12) in the Holiday Bowl in San Diego!

You can watch the game on December, 27 on ESPN, with kick-off set for 7 p.m.

You can check out all the information for the game here, and a little bit of Holiday Bowl history, thanks to SB Nation.

The Gophers had a good season, but should have had a couple more wins. They had games where they were in position to win, but were unable to come home with the victory.

The Gophers held a lead in all four of their losses against Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin and Nebraska. It will be interesting to see the Gophers take on a Pac-12 team that likes to throw the ball, a lot. Their quarterback, Luke Falk, has thrown for 4,204 yards and 37 touchdowns this season.

It will be a match of a high-power offense against a strong defense. If Mitch Leidner is able to keep his composure, the Gophers should have a solid chance at winning another bowl game. Look for the Gophers to ride the hot-hand of Rodney Smith and the ground game against a suspect defense in Washington State.

It should be a fun game to watch, and it doesn't hurt that the Gophers will be in Southern California if you are interested in taking a little holiday vacation!
