Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The Rochester City Council is expected to revisit the issue of liquor store hours of operations later this month.

City Clerk Aaron Reeves has sent out notices to the holders of Small Brewer off sale and Brew Pub off sale licenses that indicates a change that was approved by the City Council Wednesday night is not allowed under state law. The Council decided to allow the breweries and brew pubs to sell carryout beer until 10 PM every night, while still requiring liquor stores to close at 8 PM Monday through Thursday and at 9 PM on Friday.

The city has since been notified that a state law requires the Beer Growler sales hours match the legal hours for alcohol sales by liquor stores.

The notice to the businesses indicates the issue will be brought back before the City Council on September 21st.
