Preston, MN (KROC AM News) - An Eyota woman scheduled to stand trial this week on charges of causing a fatal traffic wreck in Fillmore County decided to plead guilty instead.

56-year-old Cindy Mueske pleaded guilty Monday to one count of criminal vehicular homicide and will be sentenced in July.

She was driving a pickup truck that collided head-on with a car driven by 16-year-old Kaitlyn Hansen of Canton, who was killed. The wreck happened January 28th last year on Highway 52 between Chatfield and Fountain.

A witness told investigators he was driving in front of Hansen when he was forced to swerve to avoid colliding with Mueske’s pickup truck, which was coming at him in his lane. Moments later the truck collided with Hansen’s car.

Investigators says Mueske was travelling at 84-miles-per-hour or higher at the time of the wreck. They also say her blood/alcohol level was estimated  at between .08 and .15 and that she had marijuana in her system..
