Happy Birthday To My Soul Mate
Today is another special day!
Could we possibly BE any more different?
I did mention that I'm a comic book sci-fi geek, right? Yeah? Okay, good. I'm a Batman fan. I'm a Star Wars fan. My wife...not so much. She refuses to watch any movie that is Black and White. It's a Wonderful Life? Like fingernails on a chalkboard. She just doesn't get The Three Stooges, The Marx Brothers or Gilligan's Island. Don't get her started on Blazing Saddles or Young Frankenstein. She's not a James Bond fan - I can't imagine why - but she does have a favorite. On Her Majesty's Secret Service, with George Lazenby and Diana Rigg. I guess if she had to pick, she'd take Daniel Craig, then Sean Connery. The others are just pretenders.
She loves John Wayne, but not Clint Eastwood. She'll watch any John Wayne movie... that's in color. We have a trilogy that we watch together. The Quiet Man, McLintock! and Big Jake.
Her favorite romance novelist is Jude Deveraux. Then, Danielle Steele. She likes historical romance. One of her favorites is a two book series called Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through. She discovered Twilight - the movie - one year we went on a cruise together; and spent a few weeks afterward reading the entire four book series. I think she cried at the end. I giggle, not because she cried at the end, but because Stephenie Meyer admitted in some interview she based all her characters in Twilight from watching the '90's Saturday morning X-Men cartoon! Now that's funny stuff, I don't care who ya are!
When we first got married, I was working in a mailroom for a company that one of the vice-presidents of the company had started in the mailroom. Yeah, it was very much like Michael J. Fox in The Secret of My Success. Except, I was planning to go back to school for continuing education.
That was when Cathy told me I had a
face - a voice - the personality - for radio.
If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing today.
Today is my soul mate's birthday! Yep, I'm a pretty lucky guy.
