Aitkin, MN (KROC AM News) - Hundreds of law enforcement officers and citizens are expected to turn out for Friday morning’s funeral for slain Aitkin County deputy Steven Sandberg.

He was killed by his own gun last Sunday by a patient he was watching at a St Cloud hospital. The 60 year old deputy had been with the department for 24 years.

After the 11 a.m. service at Aitkin High School, there will be two processions to the cemetery where he will be laid to rest.

Governor Dayton will attend the funeral. He has ordered flags at government sites around the state be flown at half staff today in honor of Sandberg.
