Ellendale, MN (KROC-AM News) - Traffic on I-35 was snarled for hours Wednesday evening south of Owatonna because of a multiple vehicle crash that claimed the life of a young woman from Wisconsin.

The Minnesota State Patrol says the fatal crash occurred shortly after 5pm when the driver of a southbound PT Cruiser lost control after the vehicle experienced a flat tire near Ellendale. The car went into the median and rolled, causing the vehicle to split into two. A portion of the PT cruiser came to rest in the northbound lanes of the freeway, where it was hit by a motorcycle, a pickup and an SUV.

The preliminary State Patrol report indicates the 19-year-old driver of the PT Cruiser was killed, while the 44-year-old Emmons man driving the motorcycle suffered non-life threatening injuries and the two other motorists were not hurt.

The names of the victims have not been released.
