They are going to be closing the bridge both ways tomorrow.  They are even going to be closing HWY 52  for the night.

Here are the specifics:

Thursday June 19th, 2014 starting at 8 p.m. barricades and signs are going to be set up closing 55th street N.W. in both east and west directions to traffic near the bridge over highway 52.   They are doing this to warn of the closure that will occur throughout the night while beams are set on the bridge.

At 9 p.m. both the north and south lanes of Hwy 52 in that area will be closed.   There will be a detour by using the frontage roads in both east and west directions at 41st street N.W. All of the Hwy 52 traffic is going to be directed up and then down the exit ramps with no left hand turns allowed in either direction from the ramps on the 55th street bridge.

The traffic lights and signals on the ramps will be programmed to stay green so that the highway traffic will keep running and moving along.

The work they are doing on the bridge will take all night and will be restored after the beams are set.

By 6 a.m. Friday, June, 20, 2014 traffic is predicted to resume into its normal pattern and the Rochester Department of Public Works claims they will reopen the bridge.  In the event of inclement weather they will cancel and reschedule the work for Friday, June 20th, with the same time schedule provided for Thursday night.
