Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Last month was the third wettest September on record in Rochester.

The National Weather Service recorded 9.1 inches of rain at the Rochester Airport. That is almost an inch and a quarter above the precipitation total from September 1980, which was previously listed as the third wettest September. The record was set in 2007 when Rochester saw over 14 inches of rain. The largest 24 hour rainfall total last month was 3.6 inches on September 21st when storms produced torrential rains throughout the region and caused widespread flooding.

The average temperature last month in Rochester was 64.4 degrees, which is about 3.5 degrees warmer than normal. It also tied 2004 and 1998 as the seventh warmest September on record in Rochester. The warmest temperature last month was 83 degrees, which was reached on both September 5th and the 18th. The coolest reading was 45 degrees on the morning of September 27th.
