I was at Thursdays on First when I met Rochester's fastest cuber and I challenged him to solve Rubik's Cube in seventeen seconds! Did he succeed? We'll get to that in a second.

First, his name is Henry. And he's traveled near and far to get cubey with with other cubers. Local celebrity, my former co-host, and current national treasure, Tracy McCray, says that at these gatherings, with awesome names like Wiscube, the cubers help each other. "It's entirely different than anything I've seen...instead of trying to psyche each other out, and all that drama, they help each other with tips and ideas!"

The very first Rubik's Cube champion was crowned in Budapest. It was in 1982 that Minh Thai, from the USA,  solved the cube in 22.95 seconds. And it wasn't until 2011 that Michal Pleskowicz broke the 10 second mark with a time of 8.65 seconds.

Henry's best time is 17 seconds, so I said, "Let's see it!" And holy moly! Watch his fingers fly...

By the way, the current champion is Feliks Zemdegs with a time of 8.18 seconds.

By the way part II? Remember that one time Brent Ackerman just tried to solve it, forget doing it for time...
