Owatonna, MN (KROC-AM News) - Jury selection is taking place this week for an Owatonna man’s murder trial.

Court officials in Steele County say they expect to schedule opening statements early next week in the trial of 27-year-old Cyrus Trevino. He is facing first and second-degree murder charges stemming from the drug-related, execution-style shooting of Richard Jurgenson in July of last year.

The criminal complaint alleges Trevino and another man took the 22-year-old Medford man to a remote spot along a rural Owatonna road, where Trevino killed him because he mistakenly believed the victim was a drug informant.

The second defendant in the case, 38-year-old Gerald Blevins of Bemidji, is accused of helping to lure Jurgenson to the site of his execution. Blevins is currently scheduled to stand trial on first and second-degree murder charges in late January.
