Kasson Gets Big Boost from State for Sewer Treatment Project
St Paul (KROC AM News) -The city of Kasson has been awarded more than $3-million in loans and grants to help pay for a major project involving its wastewater treatment plant.
The state funds will help the city reduce phosphorus discharge at the plant and connect neighboring Mantorville to its system.
The funds include a $490,000 grant and a low-interest loan totaling almost $2.9-million. The below-market loan will save Kasson $475,000 in interest costs.
“These projects are an investment in the future of these southern Minnesota communities,” said Shawntera Hardy, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development which announced the loan and grant.
“Along with safer drinking water, the cities will have improved facilities that encourage new businesses and economic development.”
