The 13th Annual Rochester WinterFest is nearly upon us and the official kick-off took place yesterday (Jan. 20) at the Rochester Art Center. This year’s event promises to be the biggest and best yet. More importantly, it will be a lot of fun!

That was a theme that ran through last night’s kick-off event. Nearly two dozen organizations that are participating in WinterFest were there, with games and prizes at many of their tables. The official ceremony began with City Council President Randy Staver delivering a humorous WinterFest proclamation on behalf of Mayor Ardell Brede.

Then the event’s chair for 2015, Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson, sang a rousing tune to tout all the activities taking place during this year’s WinterFest celebration. The words were original, while the tune was vaguely familiar…

WinterFest 2015 will run from January 29 through February 15. Visit the event’s website for more information and a complete list of Winterfest events.
