An extensive law enforcement operation was conducted in southwest Rochester Wednesday evening as law officers searched for a Lake City man with a penchant for eluding authorities.

The Olmsted County Sheriff's Department says 48-year-old Greg Ahlers has managed to get away from officers several times in recent weeks.  It's believed he is the same person who was involved in two incidents on May 9th when he fled on a motorcycle after a State Trooper attempted to stop him in Rochester and a deputy later spotted him in Stewartville. In both cases, the law officers broke off the pursuits for safety reasons.

Officials indicated they received information that Ahlers was at a residence in an area west of West Circle Drive and south of the Meadow Lakes Golf Course, but he managed to get away before law officers could surround the property. That led to the deployment of the local tactical team to help with the search for Ahlers, which included assistance from a State Patrol helicopter.

As of late Wednesday night, the search had been called off, but it's not known if Ahlers has been captured or remains at large.
